Napoleon by RadoJavor Napoleon by RadoJavor
Work for Napoleon total war. I dont know if it was used or not but I spend some hard times on painting this. Its a moment from the battle of the pyramids. Characters and horses are a big challenge for me. Done in photoshop and wacom intuos.

Very very impressing work, but, my word napoleon does not look noble enough on this image.
Axxaxxin Featured By Owner Jul 21, 2010
Everyone has a different idea of what 'noble' looks like. This is great I thought. Even though Im not a Napolean fan.
Cyric23 Featured By Owner Jul 21, 2010  Student General Artist
I mean, this IS a great drawing. I just feel the design for the clothings does not fit.

This is very good work! :D

Wasn't Napoleon very short? I'm uncertain..but I thought he had to have help getting onto the horse. Anyway..good work!
BlackPhoenix2012 Featured By Owner Feb 23, 2012
No. He was about 168 cm (around 5'7"), not really small.

would these paintings that you did (assuming they did get it) ~ were they implemented into the game, or used for the website :?
tyrannusBE Featured By Owner Jun 4, 2010  Hobbyist Writer
They're in the loading screens of the game. At least the ones he did for Empire: Total War. I don't know about the ones for Napoleon.

wow! beautiful painting!

I normally dont comment if all I have to say is "nice!" ;) but on this one I do have a criticism. The biggest reason the horse's eye looks off is the pupil goes the wrong way.. horses have horizontal pupils, contrary to us (round pupils) and things like cats (vertical pupils)
Scilens Featured By Owner Apr 17, 2010
too amazing for words
CKTalons Featured By Owner Apr 16, 2010
Looks awesome. I agree with TheSilentRebellion, though. The horse looks weird. His ears are way off and a bit small, and his eye looks funky. Over all, though, great piece.

I've noticed your work in E:TW as well. I don't have much interest in N:TW but what I see in E:TW looks stunning, fits the game nicely. Your gallery is filled with works of a unique style, superbly illustrated.

Awesome! Only thing I have an issue with is the horse... something about it just doesn't look quite right. Almost cartoonish?

Regardless. Amazing Job. :D

I love this; particularly the expression on the horses face. I don't know if this is helpful at all, but I think perhaps more contrast on the horse?

I'm thinking of a battle scene, and so what I think of is very harsh light; fire, explosions, gunfire and really sharp, non-blended flashes of light. That said, the horse looks like he might be running through a sunset, more than a battlefield.

That's not to say this isn't amazing lol. I'm in no position to give you critique, considering the fact that you're an artist that I aspire to be like, where skill comes in - but I think feedback can help.

And I love this piece. Subject matter. Napoleon is one of my many historical boyfriends. ;)

The chin looks a little too square to me, but that aside it's splendid work. Well done.

La Marseillaise
Allons enfants de la Patrie,
Le jour de gloire est arrivé!
Contre nous de la tyrannie,
L'étendard sanglant est levé,(bis)
Entendez-vous dans les campagnes,
Mugir ces féroces soldats?
Ils viennent jusque dans vos bras,
Égorger nos fils, nos compagnes!

Whenever I listen or see an image of Napoleon, La Marseillaise always come into my mind. For me, he was Frances at its greatest. Never, or since, has there been a more capable, most competent person rise to govern and rule entire armies and countries with such endless energy and enthusiasm to be involve in every aspect of government, social life and scientific discovery and thought as he was.
Just to exemplify how great his impact on the world history has been, check how many books, articles, etc. are publish each year of Napoleon compare to Jesus, Hitler or Julius Cesar, he surpasses them all by a long shot.
