Republic cruiser by RadoJavor Republic cruiser by RadoJavor
Ok, here it is. My favourite ship form Star Wars. Its not very well-known, maybe because it was seen only for some seconds at the beginig of episode one. But i think the design of it is great. Corellian diplomatic cruiser, lost years ago on some dark planet. I hope I can make some story about it, maybe connected with some other SW pics in the future.
Strarted as a quick pic, but somehow i started to play with details so it was about 30hours at the end. Wacom intuos+photoshop as always.

I remember when I first saw this years ago, I did a double-take at the rain and wondered if it was really raining or not, and what if it was actually a seed-storm from all of the plant-life in that area.
That just seemed so surreal that I can't look at the picture the same, whatever the case it's so beautiful! Good job!    Clap

Hi, I was just wondering if I would be able to use this image as official concept art for a Star Wars game that I am developing as I currently do not have an art department, you will of course be credited in the completed version of the game. Thank you for reading this :)

I hear you. The space craft designs out of Star Wars are just magnificent, basically the best ones in whole science fiction ever. Many of them don't make sense in logic means, but that doesn't count for this one. A very nice ship design.

And that goes along with your picture, which is extraordinary content. The scenery and atmosphere is great in this picture, and I would enjoy seeing a story around all this. Grade A work!

Absolutely outstanding art, as a sidenote I never realized until now but the front part of the ship kind of looks like a Jawa sandcrawler, maybe that's where they come from.

Absolute BEAUTIFUL!!! great work and a true masterpiece!
Just one thing: that looks more like the ambassedor carrier qui-gon and obi wan used in Episode 1 than an actual republican cruiser ;)

got an idea for this...

roughen the ship up a bit more... remove the clones... and add a bunch of Jedi who escaped Coruscant during Order 66... have where this poor vessel settled on be in the Unknown Regions... and you have yourself the beginnings of an AWESOME story (^^,)

btw, i'm gonna copyright that idea so don't get any ideas (^^,)

This has to be one of my favourite ships in the SW universe simply because it looks believable, massive, the way a a mining truck looks.
Well done!

This planet seems to remind me of Dagobah... Perhaps even Felucia or The Wookie Homeworld... The spelling of Kashyeek slips my mind currently. I know that's not how you spell it...

An amazing piece. I especially like the touch with the clone troopers, which were of course much later. As for a story, perhaps this might help:

RC 1170 slogged through the jungle with the rest of his squad strung behind him. The thick jungle seemed dense and impenetrable, even with the latest advancements. The narrow game trail they had been following was the only way in or out, as far as he could tell. Who knows, maybe it was the only way through the entire friggin jungle.

A slip on a tree root jolted him from his reverie. He flailed his arm slightly as he tried to compensate. A moment's wobble, and he was able to regain his footing. Through the helmet intercom, he could hear a couple of his soldiers laugh at him. It was hard to tell exactly who, but he thought it sounded like RC 1189.

"Eighty-niner, what exactly are you doing, laughing at your poor old sargeant?" He snapped. He was going to rip him a new asshole.

"Just watching an old trooper flailing about, sir." Eighty-nine replied. This time, he could hear the grin through the helmet.

He was just about to light into him when 2189 spoke up. "Sir! I'm picking up a dense metal reading up ahead. Ferrous output high!"

The squad went on immediate alert. As they scanned the trail ahead and to the sides for signs of the tinnies, 1170 took stock of the situation. The planet they were on was a small one, with no sign of Sepratist forces anywhere nearby. No activity had been monitored, and the only reason they were actually on this stinking mudball was because of its proximity to Borielas.

1170 made his choice. "Squad, advance. Keep your rifles up and your fields clear."

The clone troopers moved along the trail, rifles cautiously swinging back and forth to cover. The trail actually followed a gentle rise that took them out of the water, thank god. Now on semi-dry land, the troopers made a faster pace.

"The reading should be just ahead, sir." 2189 reported.

"Acknowledged. Spread out." 1170 ordered.

The troops spread out as best they could in the dense foliage, and then waited. With a whispered "go!" they charged into the clearing. Catching sight of what was there, the squad staggered to a ragged halt.

"Well." 1170 finally said. "That wasn't what I was expecting."

Just incredible, love it that you show off the scale by placing the astromech unit close to the ship, the setting is gorgeous, heavy rain, vegetation and tall structures in the very background, amazing.
I'm a fan of this space cruiser.
Thank you for sharing your work.
